How to uninstall and reinstall Silverlight on Windows

When Silverlight becomes corrupt or misconfigured, reinstalling the plugin is often the easiest way to resolve any issues. 

Uninstall the Silverlight plugin on Windows:

Windows 10

  1. Quit all open browsers.
  2. Open the Start menu.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select System.
  5. Select Apps & Features in the left sidebar.
  6. Find and select Microsoft Silverlight.
  7. Select Uninstall.

Windows 8:

  1. Quit all open browsers.
  2. Open Settings.
    • If you are on a touch screen: Swipe from the right edge of the screen, then tap Settings.
    • If you are using a mouse or touchpad, move the pointer to the lower-right corner of the screen and click, then click Settings.
  3. Select Control Panel.
  4. Select Programs & Features.
  5. Find and select Microsoft Silverlight.
  6. Select Uninstall.

Windows 7/Vista:

  1. Quit all open browsers.
  2. Open the Start menu.
  3. Select Control Panel.
  4. Select Programs & Features.
  5. Find and select Microsoft Silverlight.
  6. Select Uninstall.

Windows XP:

  1. Quit all open browsers.
  2. Open the Start menu.
  3. Select Control Panel.
  4. Select Add or Remove Programs.
  5. Find and select Microsoft Silverlight.
  6. Select Remove.

Reinstall the Silverlight plugin on Windows:

  1. Open Philo in a Silverlight-supported browser.
  2. Go to Live and select any channel to play.
  3. Follow the instructions to reinstall Silverlight.
